[. . . ] You must read them carefully before installing or using the appliance. Children should not be allowed to tamper with the controls or play with the product. Any electrical work required to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. This product should be serviced by an authorized Service Centre, and only genuine spare parts should be used. [. . . ] 4 Fitting door panels (for models equipped with door frame) To fit the door panel, proceed as follows: Loosen the fixing screws to remove the frame side opposite the handle. Insert the panel from the side on which the frame has been removed and push it through. 6 A - Freezer pilot light B - SUPER operating control light C - Temperature warning light D E F G D - Freezer compartment thermostat knob E - NORMAL/SUPER knob F - Refrigerator compartment thermostat knob G - Refrigerator pilot light USE OF THE FREEZER The freezer is marked with the symbol, which means that the compartment is suitable for freezing fresh food and for long-term storage of frozen food. Fast freezing Turn the knob (E-Fig. 6) to «S» (SUPER) setting (pilot light (B) comes on). Warning light (C-Fig. 6) Storing of frozen foods Insert the plug into the wall socket, pilot light (A) will come on; this indicates that the appliance is switched on. To safely store frozen and deep-frozen foods, the temperature inside the freezer must be at least 18°C or colder. The temperature inside the freezer is automatically adjusted to ensure safe storage of the food. However if the appliance works in unfavourable room conditions such as poor ventilation, high or low ambient temperature and frequent door openings, it might be necessary to adjust the setting. During the freezing process, do not add further food for freezing and do not open the freezer door. Food for freezing should not be placed in contact with already frozen food. In addition, never put hot foods or liquids in the freezer compartment and take care not to fill recipients up to the brim if they are covered with a lid. It is a good idea to mark the packs or the cards on the sliding drawers if your model has them with the date on which foods were frozen so that you can keep a check on storage periods. If accidental thawing occurs due to a power cut for example food must be used up very quickly or else cooked immediately and refrozen. If, however, the power failure is relatively brief (from 6 to 8 hours) and the freezer compartment is packed full, frozen 16 food will not suffer any damage. The inner door of the freezer compartment shows pictures of different types of food followed by a figure. These figures indicate the maximum storage time, in months, for each type of food. Details of food being stored, can also be written in pencil on a card located in a special holder in the inner door. Storage of commercially frozen food To get the best out of your freezer, in the case of storage of commercially frozen food you should ensure that: the products have been correctly stored by the retailer; there is only a very short time between when you purchase the products and when you put them in the freezer; you do not store products for longer than the time specified by the food manufacturer. In addition, if the freezer has been out of use for some time, before putting the products in the compartment let the freezer run for at least two hours on the fast-freeze (SUPER) setting. Avoid opening the door too frequently and when you do open it, leave it open only for as long as is strictly necessary. A word of warning about ice lollies: they should not be eaten straight out of the freezer as this might cause cold burns. If the freezer is completely full, frozen products will not be affected. Otherwise they should be used up very quickly. Thawing Before being used, deep-frozen and frozen food can be thawed out either in the refrigerator or at room temperature, depending on the time available for this operation. [. . . ] 12) into a special container on the back of the appliance, where it evaporates. 12 D037 18 MAINTENANCE Unplug the appliance before carrying out any maintenance operation. Replacing the interior light bulb The light inside the refrigerator compartment is easy to get at through the opening in the light holder. If the light does not go on when the door is open, check that it is screwed into place properly. 14 Periodic cleaning Wash the interior with lukewarm water and sodium bicarbonate, and clean the painted components with silicone wax; clean the condenser and the motor compressor with a brush or a vacuum cleaner.
