[. . . ] Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. Changes and modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer or registrant of this equipment can void your authority to operate this equipment under Federal Communications Commission rules. 1. 1 Introduction These Release Notes contain information about the firmware version 1. 26 that is not included in the TRIMMARK 3 Radio Modem User Guide. Your Trimble® TRIMMARKTM 3 radio modem is supplied with a CD containing the current version of firmware, the TRIMMARK 3 Radio Modem User Guide in PDF format, and the WinFlash utility. 1. 2 Changes The TRIMMARK 3TM radio modem (P/N 46000-XX and later) has been type approved to operate in 25-watt mode in Australia and New Zealand. Firmware version 1. 26 can configure the TRIMMARK 3a (P/N 46000-xx) and can transmit at 25 watts (9600 bps max). When you load firmware version 1. 26, radio modems that were previously configured in Australian and New Zealand radios are automatically updated. 1. 3 Existing Features SiteNet wireless mode The SiteNetTM wireless mode is the underlying transport used for the new semi-transparent mode. The SiteNet mode is not compatible with any earlier TRIMTALKTM 450S or TRIMMARK 3 modes. The TRIMMARK 3 radio modem supports over-air data rates of 19, 200 and 9600 bps in a 25 kHz channel, and 9600 bps in a 12. 5 kHz channel. The SiteNet 9600 mode in a 25 kHz channel is compatible with the SiteNet 450 radio version 1. 20. 13. 1 4 TRIMMARK 3 Radio Modem Release Notes The SiteNet 8000 mode is enabled only on a SiteNet 450 radio that operates with a channel spacing of 12. 5 kHz. The mode is not compatible with any TRIMMARK 3 mode. 13. 2 TRIMTALK 450S wireless mode Note You can use this mode if you are experiencing difficulties with the normal Base mode. However, Trimble does not recommend this mode for CMRTM format distribution. TRIMTALK 450S modes can now run in bi-directional semi-transparent mode. You can use both the TRIMMARK 3 and the SiteNet 450 radio in a network. If two or more radio modems are configured for semi-transparent source with the Netmode TRIMTALK 450S radio, then the units can be used to broadcast any type of message across the network. Consider the following: · · · Data length is limited to approximately 300 bytes. You must provide your own collision avoidance system to protect against overloading the network. Other radios on the same network as the rovers will receive any valid data. · 13. 3 SiteNet wireless mode with CMR Operation You can use the new SiteNet wireless mode to operate with CMR format on the base, rover, and repeater. In this configuration, there must be only one TRIMMARK 3 radio modem or SiteNet 450 radio configured as a base, or the network will not operate correctly. You can have up to two repeaters configured at both 9600 and 19, 200 bps. In general, Trimble does not recommend that you use a SiteNet radio for CMR operation unless you have trouble with the TRIMTALK 450S or TRIMMARK 3 modes and require error correction. TRIMMARK 3 Radio Modem Release Notes 5 1. 4 Configuring the Radio This section describes how to set up any combination of TRIMMARK 3 radio modems or SiteNet 450 radios for semi-transparent operation. Semi-transparent mode enables you to broadcast raw, unformatted, serial data to nodes on a semi-transparent network. You can broadcast data from any node on the network to all other nodes within range. As with all 450 MHz radio networks, the wireless mode/channel spacing and frequency must match on all units. 14. 1 Setting up the semi-transparent slave units Configure each slave unit for semi-transparent operation: 1. [. . . ] Currently, you cannot use a TRIMMARK 3 radio modem to receive both CMR format and semi-transparent data. TRIMMARK 3 radio modems configured as Semi-Transparent Slaves with CMRs will send or receive only semi-transparent data. A TRIMMARK 3 radio modem configured as a Semi-Transparent Master with CMR will broadcast only CMR format. If you want a TRIMMARK 3 radio modem to receive CMR format on a semi-transparent network, configure the unit as a rover. TRIMMARK 3 Radio Modem Release Notes 11 Issues · Semi-transparent mode does not detect or rebroadcast lost data. [. . . ]
