The options are: · · In use Waiting The external real-time source is currently being used to correct positions in real time. A lower-ranked choice is currently being used to correct positions in real time. The external source's status is being monitored and the TerraSync software will switch to the external source if it becomes available and it is the highest-ranked available source. External Source · Correction Type Not in use The external real-time source is set up but is not currently being used for real-time corrections. The type of VRS correction being received. The options are: · Network The VRS is providing a network solution, using corrections from more than one base station to calculate the position of the virtual reference station. The VRS is operating in raw mode, and is using only one base station to provide RTCM corrections. · Single Station This field only appears if the external source is a virtual reference station (VRS). TerraSync Software Reference Manual 1 61 5 Status Section External Source Status screen: Fields (continued) Description The duration, in hours, minutes, and seconds, of the current VRS connection. The amount of data, in megabytes, kilobytes, or bytes as appropriate, that has been sent and received since the connection was established. The time, in seconds, since the last correction message from this source was received. The external beacon receiver status is being monitored and the TerraSync software will switch to the external beacon if it becomes available and it is the highest-ranked available source. The external beacon is set up but is not currently being used for real-time corrections. The connected GPS receiver does not support real-time corrections from an external beacon receiver. · · Frequency Not in use Not supported The current beacon station frequency being tracked or locked on to by the external beacon receiver. [. . . ] It uses data from a network of base stations to provide corrections to each rover that are more accurate than corrections from a single base station. To start using VRS corrections, the rover sends its position to the VRS server. The VRS server uses the base station data to model systematic errors (such as ionospheric noise) at the rover position. It then sends RTCM correction messages back to the rover. WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) WAAS was established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for flight and approach navigation for civil aviation. [. . . ]
