For information on using Trio Communications, access Trio Communications and follow the onscreen instructions. Using a Modem 8-13 Connecting the Modem to a Cellular Phone (North America) Cellular phone frequencies vary by region. You can connect the modem to a cellular phone only if you are in North America, using a computer purchased for use in North America, and using a Compaq-compatible cellular phone. When the modem is connected to a cellular phone, data can be transmitted and received without the use of a standard RJ-11 telephone jack. Connection Requirements To connect the modem to a cellular phone, you need s s A cellular phone supported by the modem A cellular phone cable Selecting a Compatible Cellular Phone To view an online list of the cellular phones supported by the modem: 1. The Compaq PC Card Solutions List is updated quarterly and is available at the Compaq Internet site at http://www. compaq. com. You may also be able to obtain the list from your Compaq authorized dealer, reseller, or service provider. For information, refer to "Worldwide Telephone Numbers" in Appendix A. PC Cards with this logo on their packaging and advertising are compatible with most Compaq portable computers. Configuring a PC Card Windows 95 automatically configures Plug and Play Devices. If you are running Windows NT, you can use the preinstalled CardWare program to provide many Plug and Play features. For example, you can use CardWare to automatically configure a PC Card. To access CardWare, click StartÆPrograms ÆCardWare or double-click the PC Card icon in the system tray on the Windows taskbar. For additional configuration information, refer to CardWare Help from within the program. If you are instructed by PC Card documentation to install cardspecific device drivers, be sure to install only device drivers for your Windows 95 or Windows NT operating system. If diskettes are not clearly labeled or the instructions are unclear, call the PC Card manufacturer for more specific instructions.
