The AF Illuminator emits red light allowing the camera to focus easily when the shutter button is pressed halfway, until the focus is locked. The indicator appears at this time. AF operates with priority on subjects located near the center of the frame. Although there is no health hazard, do not look directly into the AF Illuminator emitter at close range. However, note that the picture quality deteriorates when the optical zoom scale is exceeded (Precision digital zoom). Does not use the digital zoom. Operation Search Precision ( MENU/Settings Search Off Notes · Digital zoom is not available in the following cases: ­ (Advanced Sports Shooting) is selected in the Scene Selection mode ­ Shooting movies ­ The Smile Shutter is working ­ Shooting with (Sweep Panorama) · The smart zoom is not available when the image size is set to [9M], [3:2(8M)] or [16:9(6M)]. · The Face Detection function does not work when using the digital zoom.
