[. . . ] Model HTP-1 HOME THEATER PLATE Double Gang Multi-Connection Plate Instruction Sheet DESCRIPTION The Home Theater Plate (HTP-1) is a double-gang in-wall connection plate designed to allow easy hookup of all the speakers in a 5. 1- or 6. 1-channel surround sound system. It includes terminals for five pair of satellite speakers, two powered/active (low level) subwoofers and one rear surround speaker. The heavy-duty molded plate supports the weight of high-quality wires, and each connection is clearly labeled. [. . . ] When inserting any wires or connectors, be sure that they don't bridge over to another terminal or wire, causing a short circuit. Typically one conductor is marked in some way, either with printing on the outer jacket, different color wire conductors, a formed ridge on the outer jacket or a thread running within one of the conductors. It is very important to maintain proper phasing by hooking the positive leads to the positive terminals and negative leads to negative terminals on every component. If one speaker is wired backwards there will typically be a lack of bass response and the sound may appear to wander between the speakers rather than be precisely placed. Use a 7/16" (11mm) socket to tighten the hex heads of the binding posts. Make them snug, without overtightening and damaging the terminals or the plate. Re-tighten the connections within 24 hours of making the original connections to ensure long-term reliability. Pin connector - Loosen the hex head, insert the pin into the side hole on the binding post, then tighten the hex head. Insert the spade so that it hugs the binding post, then tighten the hex head. Banana plug connector - Make sure the hex head is tight on the binding post. Insert the banana plug as far as it will go into the top hole of the binding post. Bare or tinned wire - Strip the speaker wires, exposing approximately 1/2 inch (14mm) of wire. Individually twist each conductor to keep the strands of wire bundled together. Loosen hex head, insert wire into the side hole of the binding post, then tighten the hex head. RCA connector - The RCA connectors for powered/active subwoofers utilize "F" type connectors on the back of the plate for increased reliability. Be sure the left and right channels remain consistent throughout the wiring process. LIMITED WARRANTY The Russound HTP-1 is fully guaranteed for ten (10) years from the date of purchase against all defects in materials and workmanship.
