Head Restraint Adjustment Lever Head Restraint Shoulder Belt Routings (2) Side Impact Protection Back Rest Armrest Lap Belt Restraints (2) 17 Section 8: Adjusting the ProBOOSTER to Fit Your Child Head Restraint Adjustment The purpose of the head restraint adjustment is to maximize the side impact protection for the child's head and properly position the vehicle shoulder belt across the child's body. There are eleven (11) height adjustment positions of the head restraint that will allow the ProBOOSTER to grow with your child. Prior to placing and fitting the child restraint system to the vehicle seat, adjust the head restraint to fit the child. After finding the correct position for the head restraint to the child, place the ProBOOSTER in the vehicle. To properly fit your child, the head restraint should be positioned as follows: · Your child's head must be centered vertically between the top and bottom of the head restraint. -AND· The red shoulder belt guide on the child restraint system must be above the child's shoulder to allow for correct vehicle belt positioning. 18 To adjust the head restraint: 2 1. Have your child sit in the ProBOOSTER before it is placed in the vehicle. Adjust the head restraint by lifting up on the head restraint adjustment handle located at the top rear of the head restraint. 3 3. There are (11) height adjustment positions of the head restraint on the ProBOOSTER. Once the head restraint adjustment handle is lifted either pull up or slide the head restraint down until the head restraint is in the proper positions detailed in step 1 and 2 of this section. 19 It is important to always check that the position of the head restraint height is correct for your child as your child continues to grow. Your child is too TALL for the ProBOOSTER when: · The child's shoulders are even with or above the red shoulder belt guides when the head restraint is adjusted to its highest position. · The child's ear is above the top edge of the head restraint when the head restraint is adjusted to its highest position. Your child is too SHORT for the ProBOOSTER when: · The child's ear is below the bottom edge of the head restraint when the head restraint is adjusted to its lowest position. 20 Section 9: Adjusting the ProBOOSTER to Fit Your Vehicle Backrest Recline Adjustment The purpose of the backrest recline adjustment is to help the ProBOOSTER fit flat against your vehicle's seating surfaces. However, due to great variation in vehicle seating shape and design, the ProBOOSTER is NOT suitable to use in all vehicle seats. Therefore, you MUST read and understand all of the information in Section 6: of this manual titled "Learning About Your Vehicle", which covers the types of vehicle seats that CANNOT be used with the ProBOOSTER. The seat backrest is in the upright position when the recline bar is adjusted DOWN flat against the child restraint seat cushion. The seat backrest is in the recline position when the recline bar is adjusted UP flat against the child restraint seat back. NEVER use the recline bar in any position except fully down or fully up. 2 3 NOTE: Though it may seem that the recline bar is not providing recline, the purpose of the recline bar is to assure correct fitment of the child restraint to your vehicle seat. 21 To confirm the ProBOOSTER is properly fitted to your vehicle: 1 1. Firmly push the child restraint system into the vehicle seat cushion and toward the vehicle seat back. Both the seat base and seat back of the child restraint should fit as close to the vehicle seat as possible. 2 2. [. . . ] The upholstery fabric is subject to a certain degree of wear even from normal use.
