[. . . ] Check all hoses and clamps for fit and that all drain hoses are in place and are not worn out. Check all rubbers parts periodically and change them if they are worn out and/or damaged. Look for damages in the cooling system and be sure that the engine leg is lowered into the water. Tightly close expansion plugs - if equipped - before launching your boat. Are the cables for the remote control and steering fixed and operating freely?Check your safety equipment ­ more on this later. 14 NORTHSTAR MANUAL · · · Is the battery connected correctly?ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS · · Disconnect shore-power connections when the system is not in use. Connect metallic housings or enclosures of installed electrical appliances to the protective conductor system in the craft (green or white with a yellow stripe conductor). If the reverse polarity indicator is activated, do not use the electrical system. Correct the polarity fault before activating the electrical system on the craft. ) After you have carried out the above checks, you can start the engine as described in your engine's owner's manual. Check the battery and electrical system before your trip. If you have to change something in the electrical system, you have to separate the battery from the system at first. If your battery does not have enough charge for starting the engine, you should charge it on land. It is allowed to charge the batteries on board, only if the boat is equipped with a suitable appliance ­ a battery charger. Grease/lubricate poles of your battery to prevent corrosion and spark. ALTERNATING CURRENT ELECTRICAL SYSTEM If an alternating current electrical system is installed in your boat, please read the following in instructions carefully. · Do not modify the craft's electrical systems or relevant drawings. Installation, alterations and maintanance should be performed by a competent marine electrical technician. Inspect the system at least biennially. Do not allow the shore-power cable end to hang in the water. An electrical field can be caused which can cause injury or death to nearby swimmers. To minimize shock and fire hazards o Turn off craft's shore-power connection switch before connecting or disconnecting shore-power cable. WARRANTY EXCEPTIONS THIS WARRANTY does not cover and the following are not warranted: a) Engines, metal plating or finishes, windshield breakage, leakage, fading and deterioration of paints, canvas, upholstery and fabrics; b) Gelcoat surfaces including, but not limited to, cracking, crazing, discoloration or blistering beyond the one hundred an deighty (180) day warranty period. c) Accessories and items which were not part of the boat when shipped from the NORTHSTAR AS factory, and/or any damage caused thereby; d) Damage caused by misuse, accident, galvanic corrosion, negligence, lack of proper maintenance or improper tampering; e) Any boat used for racing, or any boat used for rental or commercial purposes; f) Any boat operated contrary to any instructions furnished by NORTHSTAR AS, or operated in violation of any laws, rules or regulations.
