If no buttons are pressed for 2-3 minutes the watch will exit ADJUST and return to TIME mode. If Daylight Saving Time is in effect select ON. [. . . ] For beachcombers it means access to sections of beach normally under water. 5 As with the following functions, by using the two above functions in unison it is possible to determine the tides on a future day at a particular time. For example, in TIDE mode select a particular day as described in step one. Then, follow directions for determining the tides at a particular time. The Typhoon watch will calculate the tides for the selected time on the date displayed at the top. In TIDE mode, press BEACH NAME/RESET. The day on which the next spring tides occur is calculated and the first high or low tide of the day displayed. "Spring" will appear to indicate that this is the day of spring tides. Follow the directions above for determining high and low tides for the day of the spring tides. Next spring tides can be calculated from future dates by following directions for determining tides for subsequent days above. To return to the current day, press and hold the BEACH NAME/RESET button. Beaches are listed in latitudinal order, so that all local beaches will be grouped together. B E AC H N AME TIME ZONE/SELECT ELECTROLITE DISPLAY To recall the active beach In BEACH mode, press BEACH NAME/RESET to recall the active beach name. To select the active beach Tide information for the active beach is displayed on the graphic tide display in all modes. With each press of the button one of three favorite beaches will be displayed with any custom beach data (see below). Note that in TIME mode, pressing BEACH NAME/RESET displays the active beach. To select three favorite beaches 1 In BEACH mode, press and hold the ADJUST button. The name will scroll three times if it is too long to fit on the screen. 3 Press BEACH NAME/RESET to move backwards through the list of regions. You can hold the button for quick scan. 8 Press ADJUST to save beach selection and customize settings. To set a custom beach The watch's harmonic algorithm is designed so that if your personal surf-spot is not represented, it is probably close to one that is. You can customize a preloaded beach to show tide information for an unlisted beach if the two are near each other. You must know the time difference between the high tide at your favorite beach and the high tide (for the same day) of the nearest beach in the watch's memory. 1 In BEACH mode press ADJUST and follow the steps above for selecting a beach. Below is a number representing the time difference between the actual high tide of your beach and the high tide of the one programmed into memory. 6 Press BEACH NAME/RESET to move backwards through the list of beaches. 7 Press TIME ZONE/SELECT to select the beach. Adjusting this element allows you to customize beach data for a beach not listed. You will need to familiarize yourself with the workings of the Typhoon watch before making adjustments for a custom beach. The maximum time difference allowed is ± 99 minutes. 3 Press START/STOP to forward the number and BEACH NAME/RESET to reverse it.
