The result of our commitment is Stralis, with its extensive range designed around the driver. A customer satisfaction survey was conducted among more than ten thousand customers to ensure that the vehicle we launched would be highly productive and competitive. Once we had collected and implemented your suggested improvements, our product development engineers conducted a battery of very demanding reliability trials and tests on the vehicle. [. . . ] The vehicle is equipped with external storage compartments featuring an electric opening system and generous dimensions. Storage Compartments The external storage compartments on the Stralis AT allow tools and other equipment to be loaded and unloaded easily. They can only be opened by means of an electric switch inside the cab 24 www. iveco. co. uk More information on the cab exterior and Stralis AT/AD dimensions are available on Stralis section of the website. 25 RELIABLE Iveco engineers conducted targeted studies to improve the cab interior and living space and also worked hard to optimise systems, drivelines and mechanical efficiency. · More than one million kilometres of functional and ageing tests on demanding tracks. climate-controlled, vibration and ageing chambers) to simulate the entire life span of a vehicle in operation. · More than five million kilometres of testing in the field with real customers. · More than fourteen thousand hours of functional and reliability tests really put the engines through their paces. ENGINES State-of-the-art components and engineering make the Stralis an extremely efficient vehicle under all operational conditions CURSOR ENGINES : POWER IN ACTION Cursor engines are the only engines equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) in the heavy transport sector. Available in 8, 10 and 13 litre versions, they cover a power range from 310 bhp to 560 bhp and are already fully compliant with the European Community Euro 5 Directive controlling exhaust emissions. The 6 cylinder in-line configuration with overhead camshaft and rear distribution ensure compact size, fewer components and, above all, great structural rigidity. These characteristics ensure less vibration, lower noise and smooth and sure-footed operation in all situations for better comfort and durability. The Cursor's power can be called on at all times because the torque curves peak below 1000 rpm and stay at the same level throughout their range of application. These powerful, reliable engines are designed to offer outstanding performance and also low running costs. They offer superior driving comfort assured by their extraordinary flexibility. It offers a cylinder capacity of 7790 cc with 6 cylinders in line and is already compliant with Euro 5 Directive emission levels well in advance of the EU deadline set for October 2009. The 310 and 330 bhp Cursor 8 engines available on the Stralis AD and AT are recommended for distribution or municipal applications, while the 360 bhp engine is ideal for tractors and missions requiring maximum payload (for example, tankers and de-mountable bodies) or for vehicles used for short-range transport over relatively undemanding routes. CURSOR 10 With 10, 000 cc capacity with 6 cylinders in line and a VGT, the Cursor 10 is available on the Stralis AS3 and AS Super3 (450bhp only), AT and AD in two power levels that both comply with the Euro 5 Directive on exhaust emissions requirements. The 420 bhp is advised for heavy-duty transport on regional and national routes and for specific applications such as vehicle transport, tanker transport and high volume transport. The 450 bhp version is excellent for national and international routes, flat routes, mixed routes and demanding routes. The variable geometry turbocharger makes a significant contribution to maintaining engine performance at high levels. CURSOR 13 The Cursor 13, with 500 and 560 bhp is only available on the Stralis AS3 and Super3. It meets the Euro 5 Directive exhaust emission requirements and offers a capacity of 12, 880 cc and 6 cylinders in line. The 500 bhp version is ideal for long-range heavy-duty transport over national and international routes and for specific applications such as bulk transport, tankers, high volumes and refrigerated transport. Those who require long-range applications over difficult routes with priority for average commercial speed are advised to opt for the 560 bhp power unit. Both engines are equipped with a VGT that helps keep power unit performance high while improving the performance of the Iveco Turbo Brake (ITB) decompression engine brake. To achieve this extraordinary result, which is indicated by a new "E5" logo on the side of the cab, Cursor engines are fitted with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology for exhaust gas posttreatment to ensure reduced emissions of particulate material into the atmosphere. [. . . ] The distribution network is also so prompt and efficient that 95% of parts are delivered within 24 hours. Specialised Technicians Iveco organises highly specialised training and refresher courses for its technicians. Investing in employee training means that the Company can ensure customers receive maximum efficiency and ability to resolve problems through the use of state-of-the-art diagnostic systems, constant electronic updating and high service quality. All this is done with the aim of ensuring vehicles are off the road for the shortest possible time. Because our Customers always come first. Service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. [. . . ]
