Use DDR2 DIMMs 35 Intel Desktop Board DG41RQ Product Guide To install a DIMM, follow these steps: 1. Remove the computer?s cover and locate the DIMM sockets (see Figure 15). Figure 15. Make sure the clips at either end of the DIMM socket(s) are pushed outward to the open position. Holding the DIMM by the edges, remove it from its anti-static package. Align the small notch at the bottom edge of the DIMM with the keys in the socket (see inset in Figure 15). 36 Installing and Replacing Desktop Board Components 7. When the DIMM is inserted, push down on the top edge of the DIMM until the retaining clips snap into place. Replace the computer?s cover and reconnect the AC power cord. Removing DIMMs To remove a DIMM, follow these steps: 1. Hold the DIMM by the edges, lift it away from the socket, and store it in an anti-static package. Reinstall and reconnect any parts you removed or disconnected to reach the DIMM sockets.
