[. . . ] Caution! When installing a CPU heatsink and cooling fan make sure that you DO NOT scratch the motherboard or any of the surface-mount resistors with the clip of the cooling fan. If the clip of the cooling fan scrapes across the mainboard, you may cause serious damage to both the mainboard and the processor. On most mainboards, there are small surface-mount resistors near the processor socket, which may be damaged if the cooling fan is carelessly installed. Avoid using cooling fans with sharp edges on the f n casing and the clips. [. . . ] If the error occurs before the display device is initialized, a series of beeps will be transmitted. 2. The main menu of the Setup Utility shows a list of the options that are available. You can use the cursor arrow keys to move the highlight to other options. When an option is highlighted, you can execute the option by pressing the enter key. Some options lead to pop-up dialog boxes that may ask you to verify that you wish to execute that option. New BIOS may provide support for new peripherals, improvements in performance or fixes for known bugs. Some mainboards have a Flash BIOS jumper that protects the current BIOS from being changed or overwritten. If your mainboard has this jumper, change the setting to allow BIOS flashing. Some Setup Utilities have an item called Firmware Write Protect that prevents the BIOS from being overwritten. If your BIOS has this item (check the Advanced BIOS Features Setup page) disable it for the present. Your computer must be running in a real-mode DOS environment, not the DOS window of Windows NT or Windows 95/98.
