[. . . ] þ User-Programmable Ignition-Controlled Door Lock/Unlock -- Automatically locks your vehicle's doors when you turn the ignition on and unlocks them when you turn the ignition off. * If your system is installed with this door lock/unlock feature, all other door lock/unlock related features will apply. þ Remote Panic with Safety LocksTM -- In a threatening situation, you can activate the siren, flash the parking lights and unlock the doors for immediate entry into your vehicle. 2 USE THIS PAGE FOR THE Hurricane Owner's Manual ONLY 2 þ Remote-Controlled Silent Arm/Disarm -- At any time, you can press a button on your remote control to silently arm or disarm your system. þ User-Programmable Long-Term Silent Arm/Disarm -- This feature allows you to completely disable the arm/disarm siren chirps until you decide to restore them. þ Protected Valet Mode -- Disables all alarm functions while your vehicle is serviced by mechanics, car wash personnel or driven by valet attendants. þ Keyless Entry in Valet -- Allows you to control your door locks and activate optional accessories while in Protected Valet Mode. This works better than holding the button down. ) The second remote can be used by a second driver, or kept as a spare. Additional remote controls or batteries can be purchased from any authorized Avital Dealer, or by calling Avital Technologies toll-free at 1-800-253-0334 (within the U. S. ) or 1-847-215-2233. To Arm The System -- Your alarm system can be programmed for active or passive arming. Active arming means the system can only be armed with the remote control. The siren will chirp twice, the parking lights will flash twice, the doors will lock, the LED will flash slowly and the starter will be disabled. 30 seconds after the interior light turns off the siren will chirp twice, the parking lights will flash twice, the LED will flash slowly and the starter will be disabled (at any time during passive arming, the system can be actively armed). The siren will chirp once, the parking lights will flash once, the doors will unlock, the interior lights will turn on, the LED will turn off and the starter will be enabled. Remote-Controlled Silent Arm/Disarm -- Press remote button #3 for 1-2 seconds. n n 5 Hurricane Owner's Manual 2 n Silent Arm Indications. The parking lights will flash twice, the doors will lock, the starter will be disabled and the LED will flash slowly. The parking lights will flash once, the doors will unlock, the starter will be enabled and the LED will turn off. n n Interior Light Illumination -- When the alarm system is remotely disarmed, the vehicle's interior light(s) will turn on for 30 seconds or until the ignition key is turned on. To Activate Optional Accessories -- Press remote button #2 for 1-2 seconds to activate an optional accessory. To activate an additional optional accessory, press remote buttons 1 & 2 simultaneously for 1-2 seconds. Valet Switch -- The valet switch is a small hidden toggle switch which can only be controlled with the use of your ignition key. In the event of a lost or stolen remote control, you can activate the Protected Valet Mode to bypass (shut off) the alarm functions. BE SURE TO ASK YOUR DEALER TO SHOW YOU WHERE THE VALET SWITCH IS LOCATED. n n n Protected Valet Mode -- You can place your system in Protected Valet Mode when your car is being serviced by mechanics, car wash personnel or driven by valet attendants, and still maintain possession of your remote control(s). While in Protected Valet Mode, all alarm functions are bypassed to prevent undesired or accidental arming. n To Turn on Protected Valet Mode 1. Turn your ignition key to the "ON" position or start the vehicle. The LED will turn on solid red to indicate the system is in Protected Valet Mode. Turn your ignition key to the "OFF" position. 6 n To turn off Protected Valet Mode 1. Turn your ignition key to the "ON" position or start the vehicle. The LED will turn off to indicate the system is no longer in Protected Valet Mode. Turn your ignition key to the "OFF" position. n Keyless Entry in Valet -- While the system is in Protected Valet Mode, you can still use your remote control to lock and unlock the doors as well as activate any optional accessories such as trunk release or a remote engine starter. [. . . ] Select the feature you wish to program from the "Programming Table for Remote Controls. " Note the number of chirps. The siren will chirp one time each time you flick the switch on, then off. Continue flicking the valet switch on and off until you reach the number of chirps associated with your chosen feature. NOTE: Stop on the chirp. 6. Repeat steps 1-7 for any other feature you wish to program.
