To ensure normal operation of iMC, you need to properly install the operating system, database, and iMC software. You can access the iMC system through IE6. 0 SP1 or higher, or through Firefox 3. 0 or higher without needing to install client software. Introduction to iMC Components iMC is composed of the iMC platform and service components. The iMC platform, which is the required configuration, involves such common components as Resource Manager, NE Manager, Alarm Manager, Performance Manager, VLAN Manager, ACL Manager, Intelligent Configuration Center, and so on. [. . . ] Figure 3-19 Configure Web Service Port The default port for HTTP access is 8080 and that for HTTPS access is 8443. You can change these port numbers. Make sure that the Web service ports that you set here are not being used by another service. After configuring the Web service port, click Deploy. The Deploying window appears, as shown in Figure 3-20. 3-26 Figure 3-20 Deploying iMC components After the deployment, the Batch deploy succeeded window appears, as shown in Figure 3-21. 3-27 Figure 3-21 Batch deploy succeeded In the Batch deploy succeeded window, select Start iMC Server now and click OK. The system will start the iMC service immediately and pop up the Intelligent Deployment Monitoring Agent window, as shown in Figure 3-22. On this window, select the Deploy tab, you can view information about the component deployment. 3-28 Figure 3-22 Information about component deployment You can deploy a single component as required. To deploy a component, right-click it and select Deploy the Component from the shortcut menu. To deploy a component, right-click it and select Batch deploy from the shortcut menu, and the Batch deploy dialog box appears. Select the component, click OK Deployment of a single component is similar to the batch deployment. When deploying such components, be sure to consider the dependencies between components. In the Deploy tab, right-click a component and select Show Dependent Influence to view the components that the selected component depends on. After the deployment is finished, you can follow these steps to start the processes of iMC: 1) In the Intelligent Deployment Monitoring Agent window, select the Monitor tab, as shown in Figure 3-23. 3-29 2) Click Start iMC. You can also select the check box beneath the Start iMC button to make the services start with Windows. Figure 3-23 Intelligent Deployment Monitoring Agent To view the running information of each process, select the Process tab to enter the process management window. Deploying iMC in Distributed Mode 3-30 The Resource Manager, Data Analysis Manager, NE Manager, Report Manager, Security Control Center and VLAN Manager components of iMC must be deployed on the master server. In the case of distributed deployment, make sure that the all slave servers and the master server use the same Windows operating system. Following are prerequisites for deploying iMC components in distributed mode: The components that you want to deploy to the slave servers have been installed on the master server. On the master server, the resource management component is deployed and the processes of the deployed components are started. You can run the JRE 6. 0 setup in the iMC package or download the program from http://java. sun. com. To install JRE 6. 0, perform the following steps: 1) On the slave server, launch the Web browser and access http://192. 168. 4. 44:8080/imc. 4) Select the System tab and click the If fail to start Remote Installation Wizard, download and install JRE. 5) In the popup jre. exe file download window, select Save before running the file or directly click Run. 3-31 6) If a component has been deployed on the master server, you need to uninstall it in the Deploy tab of the Intelligent Deployment Monitoring Agent window. If the iMC intelligent deployment monitoring agent has been installed on the slave servers, uninstall it before deploying iMC components in distributed mode. The following example assumes that the IP address of the master server is 192. 168. 4. 44 and the HTTP port is 8080. The username and password of the super user for the system are both admin. In the case of distributed deployment, to ensure that all servers are in the same running state, you are recommended to use the Network Time Protocol (NTP) to synchronize the time on all servers. The following describes how to deploy iMC in distributed mode. Installing the intelligent deployment monitoring agent 1) Start the remote installation wizard iMC provides two approaches to start the remote installation wizard: through the Web browser and through the iMC installation CD. [. . . ] The system will register the License Key against the Serial Number and generate the Activation File. Once the registration of your license key has completed a Successful Registration page will display, as shown in Figure 6-5. Figure 6-5 Successful Registration To download the Activation File, select View Registration Details. This will take you to the Account Registered Product page, as shown in Figure 6-6. 6-4 Figure 6-6 Account Registered Product Select the link to the Activation File, the File Download dialog will appear, as shown in Figure 6-7.
